Description
Kangurumai coffee originates from Murang’a County, Kenya, in the fertile highlands between the Aberdare Ranges and Mount Kenya.
The coffee is processed at Kangurumai Coffee Factory, one of five factories (New Irati, Gatumbi, Kangurumai, Kangathi and Kanguya) belonging to Kangiri Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS).The cooperative was established in 2005 following the merger of five smaller coffee societies, building on a farming heritage that spans generations.
Kangurumai works with approximately 600–650 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on family-owned plots. The region’s volcanic soils, cool climate, and high elevation create ideal growing conditions for Kenya’s renowned SL28 and SL34 coffee varieties.
The cherries are carefully selected and traditionally washed, producing a coffee celebrated for its brightness, clarity, and distinctive Kenyan character.
